Thousands turn out for successful Cobalt Jobs Fair

 

The careers fair has been hailed a huge success after thousands of jobseekers turned out.

Up to 1,600 people registered for the Cobalt Jobs Fair – more than double the registrations in 2015

The event at Cobalt Park on Thursday 8 September where over 1,000 employment opportunities were on offer, organised by North Tyneside Council in partnership with Cobalt More Team and the main sponsor was Utilitywise.

Employers from a wide range of industries were on hand to speak to those looking for work about the various roles, from entry-level to senior positions, as well as apprenticeships and training opportunities.

The event was officially opened by North Tyneside’s Elected Mayor Norma Redfearn, who said: “It was fantastic to see such an impressive turnout for what was an extremely well organised and successful event – there were queues of people stretching out the door and round the corner.

“There is an excellent and diverse range of employers at Cobalt Park and where better to start your career, or begin a new one, than here in North Tyneside?”

Visitors were asked to complete a survey on the day about the event with more than 80 per cent rating it excellent, very good or good.

Nearly three-quarters rated the venue/location excellent or very good, 78 per cent said they thought the format of the event was effective and 83 per cent said they would recommend it to a friend.
