Wheelie good fun for cycle scheme

Staff got on their bikes to help promote an initiative encouraging more to use two wheels to get to work.

Cobalt Business Park took part in the Cycle to Work day last week to help encourage thousands of staff at the park to consider cycling to work. They were joined by Bedlington-based charity WATBike to take part in a range of initiatives and events on the day.

Staff at the park have been providing more cycling information on bikes and routes, cycle maps, hosting a second hand bike sale, and promoting their pool bikes and convenient cycle stock.

Amy Carroll, events and communication manager at Cobalt, said: “At this month’s cycle event Cobalt and WATBike asked as many Cobalt staff as possible to sign up to the Cycle to Work Day national pledge to cycle to work on September 4. We feel passionately about the health and wellbeing of our staff and really believe that active travel can transform physical and mental health, social life, and importantly finances for those commuting to work by bike.

“The staff here have shown incredible enthusiasm this year for cycle to work day, and there was a great buzz at the events this lunch time as everyone is getting involved.

“The good news is that staff are getting fitter, making new friends, saving money and reducing pollution levels. Everyone’s a winner.”
